Coal Miner's Tributes Project

Our coal miner's memorial project is a heartfelt tribute to the brave men and women who worked deep in the earth to extract coal and power the world above. The Southern Appalachian region has seen many coal mining tragedies and health issues from working in the mines. Here, in this special corner, we honor these courageous souls, recognizing their sacrifices and the lasting impact they've had on our communities.

The first part of our memorial pays homage to the coal miners of Southern Appalachia, listing their names as a testament to their contribution to our region's industrial legacy. These names represent more than just individuals; they symbolize generations of hard work, resilience, and solidarity within the mining communities that dot our landscape. Additionally, we extend an offer to coal miner families: an 10 x8 memorial portrait and individual memorial pages for those who wish to honor their loved ones in a more personal way.

REQUEST A MEMORIAL PORTRIAT

Portrait B700.jpg

This is a mockup of an 10 x 8 memorial portrait
and not an actual person.

These digital portraits can be printed at any photo store, serving as a small keepsake to commemorate the lives and legacies of those who dedicated themselves to the coal mining industry. It is our hope that through this memorial section, we can honor the past, support the present, and inspire future generations to remember the contributions of coal miners to our shared history. It's my hope as more people learn about Hearts of Appalachia and what we offer that we can raise funds through our shop to be able to send families an actual printed memorial portrait.

The easiest way to request a memorial and provide the photo you would like to use, would be to become a member of our group at the link below. You can find link below or by clicking on the Group button in the drop-down menu above, or, you can email us at info@heartsofappalachia.com with the photos and information.
